* Wedding Catering | Moroccan Wedding Menu

Moroccan themed weddings have become very popular over the last couple of years and we have had repeated requests to cater in this style. With the popularity of Bedouin style tents as an alternative to the usual marquees, it is worthwhile to go the whole hog for a wedding theme, complete with belly dancers which adds to the fun.

Most of the Moroccan wedding or function menus I have seen have Moroccan influences but arent wholly Moroccan in style, which is a pity as there are so many amazing Moroccan dishes out there. As Spanish and Moroccan influences are part of our catering and cooking style we love having the opportunity to prepare an authentic menu. So here is our Moroccan Wedding Menu with a hint of Spain….

On the table

Moroccan mezze platter:

  • Carrot and caraway purée with feta and mint
  • hummus
  • baba ghanoush
  • marinated olives
  • spiced labneh (yoghurt cheese)
  • Moroccan flatbread

Buffet

Tahina, honey and garlic roast chicken
Lamb tagine with ginger and saffron

Herbed cous cous
Patatas a la pobre (potatoes cooked in olive oil with garlic and peppers)

Cinnamon roast butternut
Cauliflower with saffron, pinenuts and raisins
Courgette and aubergine salad with charmoula
Turkish chopped salad with cucumber, tomato, red onion and flat leaf parsley

Dessert

Boiled orange and nut cake with chocolate ganache
Cherry and custard tart

At one Moroccan wedding we catered for, the bride and groom included a beautiful Tibetan wedding ring ritual. All the guests crowded together and were tangled up in a very long length of string. The rings were then threaded onto the string and the guests had to push the rings along the string until it reached the bride and groom, obviously focusing good wishes and blessings as they did so.

And the decor?

…here are a few great ideas over at Brides Buzzing so have a look.
